Duties
Advises AMB, DCM, and other embassy officials on accessing and managing relationships with a wide range of political, military, religious, civil society, and other leaders – both official and unofficial. Develops and maintains a very wide range of senior level contacts; advises how to obtain access, secure meetings, maintain relationships, and advance the mission objectives with these contacts. Helps prepare communications and response to politicians, military leaders, and senior civilian figures. Provides advice across the full spectrum of geographical, social, religious, and other perspectives. Arranges appointments, as directed, with high level officials in the host government and in other embassies, for Ambassador, Deputy Chief of Mission and visiting delegations; Advises on meetings to take (or not) and prepares talking points for planned/desired and possible topics.
Qualifications and Evaluations
- Requirements:
- EXPERIENCE: At least 5 years of experience working in a professional, administrative, or managerial role with senior level officials and public figures.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Good knowledge of Embassy operations and activities. In depth understanding of the host political, social, military history and current situation. Good knowledge of U.S. foreign policy objectives and mission in Mali and the region. Detailed understanding of cultural and social norms across internal and external client population. Excellent knowledge of high-level customer service and project management principles and techniques
- Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Economics, Political Affairs, or Law is required.

English: Level IV (fluency) is required: Able to use the language fluently and accurately, making only minor errors of pronunciation and grammar. Able to conduct all work in English. Almost as proficient in English as in your native language.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good keyboard skills and faculty with desktop applications (MS Office), as well as ability to learn and master new computer-based contact management applications. Good interpretation and translation abilities. Able to achieve a good level of competence in customer relationship management system. Outstanding tact and diplomacy in dealing with senior external contacts. Ability to organize self and others – without line authority.
