Salary: (XOF) CFA12,954,989 – (XOF) CFA12,954,989/Per Year Series/Grade: LE – 0120 – 8 Agency: Embassy Bamako Position Info: Location: Bamako, ML Close Date: (MM/DD/YYYY) 11/19/2024 Duties Serves as Protocol Assistant for the Ambassador, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM), and Executive Office at U.S. Embassy Bamako. Provides protocol support to other Mission Mali offices as appropriate. Position is located in the Chancery Building and works under the supervision of the Ambassador’s Office Management Specialist (OMS). Expected to work independently on tasks assigned. Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements: All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a: security certificate All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam. Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time upon receipt of a formal offer of employment. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Economics, Political Affairs, or English is required. OPTION 2 Experience: Three years of progressively responsible administrative, protocol, diplomatic, or event planning experience is required. And, 2 years of relevant work experience is required. Education: College or University studies in Business Administration, International Relations, Economics, Political Affairs, or English is required. Language: English: Fluency in English is required. This may be tested. French: Fluency in French is required. This may be tested. Bambara: Limited knowledge of Bambara is required. This may be tested. Job Knowledge: The incumbent should have a good understanding of Mali’s major political and business issues as well as recent developments in U.S.-Mali relations. The incumbent should be familiar with the Malian political system and key political figures. Skills And Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills, social sensitivity, sound judgment, self-confidence, and capable of working smoothly and tactfully with all levels of contacts in a sensitive environment. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal forms, with a focus on listening, responding, and anticipating. Attention to detail, including competence to utilize different sources and types of information. Must be competent in MS Office software program (Outlook, Word, Excel), and various Internet applications and DOS applications. Strong oral/written communication skills required. Ability to plan, manage time, and successfully meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. Must be able to work independently and make decisions, with an appropriate level of analytical skills to assess situations and determine the best course of action when interfacing with both external and internal contacts.
