Duties
Position provides leadership and supervision of a multi-trade workforce of nine technicians in the maintenance and repair of U.S. government-owned and leased residences in the Mission. S/He oversees three (3) air-conditioning technicians, five (5) plumbing mechanics and a Mechanical Branch Lead technician. The position of Residential Mechanical Shop supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the work of a multi-trade team of air-conditioning mechanics and plumbing technicians in the maintenance and repairs of U.S. government-owned and leased residential properties
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Four years of responsible experience (to include two years of supervisory experience) in the operations and maintenance of mechanical branch trades is required, i.e., plumbing and air-conditioning/refrigeration.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must be able to read and accurately interpret technical drawings as well as equipment operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals. Must have a working knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations, must be knowledgeable of local building and plumbing codes, and be knowledgeable of local materials, equipment and their availability. Must possess a strong knowledge of refrigeration, air-conditioning, controls and plumbing systems.
Education Requirements:
Completion of high school (or host nation equivalent) is required. Completion of a vocational program or apprenticeship program recognized as producing journeyman level mechanical skill, or equivalent experience is required.
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:
English – Limited Knowledge of English – Reasonable confident in speaking English and able to handle social situations and casual conversation and limited work requirements. Able to write simple texts and fill out forms.

French and Bambara – Good working knowledge is required. Good vocabulary and understanding of grammar and able to construct sentences. Able to use French and Bambara as part of normal work duties including having conversations with customers and answer questions.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have abilities include: ability to read and understand equipment specifications, ability to effectively supervise a team of up to 10 technicians, ability to prioritize workload in a service-oriented environment and frequently changing urgencies, skills in maintenance and repair procedures and trouble shooting, skills to develop clear and accurate estimates and job plans. A valid drivers’ license is required.
